A-Level Results Day 2026: A Message to Young People in Swadlincote from Fight Station

A-Level Results: Your Results Are a Moment, Not Your Future

A-Level results day can feel enormous.

For some young people, it’s a day of celebration. Months and years of hard work suddenly seem worthwhile, university places are confirmed and the next chapter starts to feel very real.

For others, it can be a much tougher day.

Perhaps the grades weren’t what you expected. Maybe the university place you wanted hasn’t worked out. Perhaps your friends seem to have everything figured out while you’re wondering what on earth you’re supposed to do next.

At Fight Station, there’s something we want every young person to remember...

One result does not determine the rest of your life.

This week, we’re incredibly proud to celebrate Coach Ethan, who received his A-Level results and will be heading to Nottingham in September to study Biomedical Science.

It’s a fantastic achievement and one he deserves to be proud of.

But today, we also want to celebrate the students whose results might not come with an obvious victory.

Life Doesn’t Always Follow the Plan

Martial arts teaches you this very quickly.

You can prepare brilliantly for a competition and still lose.

You can struggle with a technique for weeks before suddenly understanding it.

You can fail a grading.

You can get injured.

You can have days when your confidence disappears completely.

The important part isn't pretending those moments don't hurt.

It's learning that difficult moments don't have to become permanent destinations.

A disappointing result might change your next step, but it doesn't have to change your ambition.

Plan A might become Plan B.

Plan B might become Plan C.

And occasionally, Plan C turns out to be the opportunity you never knew you needed.

Resilience Is Built When Things Get Difficult

We talk a lot about resilience with our students at Fight Station.

But resilience isn't simply being tough.

It's being able to experience disappointment, frustration or uncertainty and eventually say:

“Right. What can I do next?”

That's a skill that reaches far beyond kickboxing.

The young person who learns to stand back up after losing a fight is developing the same mindset they'll need when an exam doesn't go their way, an application gets rejected, a relationship ends or life suddenly changes direction.

You don't build resilience by having an easy life.

You build it by discovering that difficult moments can be survived, learned from and moved beyond.

Your Grades Cannot Measure Everything That Matters

An exam can measure your performance in a particular subject at a particular point in your life.

It cannot accurately measure your:

Character

Kindness

Courage

Creativity

Work ethic

Leadership

Determination

Ability to adapt

Potential

Some of the most successful people in the world have taken extremely unconventional routes to get where they are.

There is rarely one perfect road.

To Everyone Receiving Results

If you're celebrating today — enjoy it. You've earned it.

If you're disappointed — allow yourself to feel disappointed, then start looking at your options.

If you're completely unsure what comes next — that's OK too.

You don't need your entire life mapped out at 17 or 18.

Keep moving.

Keep learning.

Keep showing up.

And when something knocks you down, remember what we teach every week on the mats:

You get back up.

Congratulations to Coach Ethan and to every Fight Station student, past and present, receiving results.

Whatever is written on that piece of paper, there's still an enormous amount of your story left to write.

Dream It. Believe It. Achieve It.
